La Perouse in Randwick City Councils area is home to one of the last
two remaining inner city commercial market gardens in the Sydney area.
The La Perouse Market Gardens are under threat as Randwick City Council considers compulsory acquisition and a change of usage in order to accommodate the expansion of the local cemetery.
In our view the cemetery expansion is perhaps better accommodated in a rural setting where agriculture is not established and there is little challenge from urban land requirements.
Randwick City Council will decide the issue on Tuesday 24 July and we urge you to sign the petition below urging them to retain their last commercial agricultural site. Once its gone, its gone
